How to calculate UAE VAT
The standard VAT rate in the UAE is 5%, set by the Federal Tax Authority.
- Adding VAT: multiply the price before VAT by 1.05. For AED 1,000, the VAT is AED 50 and the total is AED 1,050.
- Removing VAT: divide the total by 1.05. For a total of AED 1,050, the price before VAT is AED 1,000 and the VAT is AED 50.
- A quick check: the VAT inside a VAT-inclusive total is the total × 5 ÷ 105.
